Marian Cornett

Marian is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian with more than 30 years’ experience in varied roles across clinical care, community health, teaching and research in both Australia and Canada. Along with her PhD studies Marian continues in her role as dietitian at a small regional health service in south west Victoria where she lives.

Marian’s research interest lies in influences on professional identity development in dietitians and the impact on innovation and leadership. The research takes an historical, political and cultural approach. Marian has completed the first phase of her research - Professional identity development in the health professions: a scoping review which has now been submitted for publication. She is currently undertaking data collection for the qualitative phase for her study using life history interviewing. Marian is examining dietitians’ experiences of professional identity development including both what shapes professional identity and how these influences impact careers and innovation and leadership realisation.
