Workshops and Consultancy

MCSHE offers half-day workshops on the following topics in health professions education. We have two workshops that we deliver regularly and are able to offer these to individuals as part of the Quality Supervision Course or to organisations as consultancy for up to 40 participants. Both workshops can be delivered face-to-face or as interactive webinars.

Introduction to supervision and feedback

This half-day online workshop will explore supervision across relevant contexts, the benefits and challenges for different supervision models, key principles relevant to supervision, effective feedback and ways to evaluate supervision in your context.

On completion of this workshop, you will be able to:

  1. Differentiate the key functions of supervision across relevant contexts
  2. Evaluate the benefits and challenges for different supervision models to facilitate effective supervision
  3. Discuss key principles relevant to supervision and apply these to your own supervision practice
  4. Explore effective feedback and its role in supervision
  5. Reflect on methods of providing feedback
  6. Explore ways to evaluate supervision in your context

Our workshop facilitators value peer-to-peer interaction to support your learning during the workshop. We, therefore, have a minimum number of workshop participants required.

Supervising challenging learners

This half-day online workshop will explore the concept of ‘fitness for practice’, factors contributing to learners’ performance, managing challenging learners, strategies for providing feedback for and supervising challenging learners.

On completion of this workshop, you will be able to:

  1. Explore the concept of ‘fitness for practice’
  2. Analyse factors contributing to learners’ performance
  3. Reflect upon existing practice of managing challenging learners
  4. Explore strategies for providing feedback for challenging learners
  5. Discuss strategies to support learners not meeting required standard
