Supervision workshops
MCSHE offers half-day workshops on the following topics in health professions education. We have two workshops that we deliver regularly and are able to offer these to individuals as part of the Quality Supervision Course or to organisations as consultancy for up to 40 participants. Both workshops can be delivered face-to-face or as interactive webinars.

Introduction to supervision and feedback
This half-day online introductory workshop is suitable for anyone new to supervision of students, as well as for experienced supervisors as a refresher to gain knowledge of theories and principles of supervision and feedback.
By the end of the session participants will be able to:
- Differentiate the key functions of supervision across relevant contexts
- Evaluate the benefits and challenges for different supervision models for learners to facilitate effective supervision
- Discuss key principles relevant to supervision of learners and apply these to your own supervision practice
- Explore effective feedback and its role in supervision
- Reflect on methods of providing feedback
- Explore ways to evaluate supervision in your context

Our workshop facilitators value peer-to-peer interaction to support your learning during the workshop. We, therefore, have a minimum number of workshop participants required.
Advancing feedback and supervising challenging learners
This half-day online workshop is designed for supervisors with some experience who would like to advance their student supervision and feedback skills and in particular how to support challenging learners.
By the end of the session participants will be able to:
- Explore strategies for providing advanced feedback
- Explore the concept of ‘fitness for practice’ and professionalism
- Analyse factors contributing to learners’ performance
- Reflect upon existing practice of managing challenging learners
- Discuss strategies to support learners not meeting the required standard

If you have completed both of these workshops you are eligible to enrol into the assessment component of the Quality Supervision Course.
