We are pleased to confirm that Dr Jauncey will deliver the Turning Point 2017 oration. Dr Jauncey was appointed Medical Director at the MSIC in Sydney in 2008. She is a public health physician and has worked in the drug and alcohol field for nearly two decades. Her particular research interests include increasing access to hepatitis C treatment for injecting drug users, drug overdose and the physiological changes that occur after drug injection.
Changing the conversation: How evidence requires advocacy to influence the political landscape.
Dr Jauncey's speech will look at the need for leadership in drug and alcohol treatment, not just from our political leaders but also from the sector. She will ask how do we expect governments to take tough decisions if we don't create an environment in which they must act. She will also challenge us to have an honest discussion about drug and alcohol use in this country.
