Physio researcher awarded Research Foundation grant
Dr. Christian Osadnik from the Department of Physiotherapy, was one of 6 recipients in Australia, and sole Monash University recipient, within the 'Lung diseases (other than cancer)' field to be awarded a Rebecca L Cooper Medical Research Foundation grant to the value of $100,000 over 2 years.
Christian's research aims to tackle the challenging issue of enhancing uptake of pulmonary rehabilitation (a comprehensive exercise and education/self-management program) for patients following hospitalisation due to acute exacerbation of their chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Many barriers exist in this area, with one of them being a lack of standardised, high quality, accessible information for these individuals. In conjunction with Lung Foundation Australia and his ResPTlab team, Christian seeks to develop a web-based resource informed by input from patients and international academic/clinical experts in the field of respiratory rehabilitation.
