Professor Anthony O'Brien
PhD, Med. Stud , BA (politics and education), RN (Mental Health/General).
Professor O'Brien is a highly experienced AHPRA Registered Nurse with a clinical background in mental health community care, crisis intervention, acute care, aged care, case management and therapeutic intervention. His research interests have focused on the educational preparation of nurses for clinical practice, new graduates, mental health web-based resources, older person nursing and men’s health. Dr. O’Brien’s funded research has involved people and communities to make a difference in the delivery of healthcare.
Tony has spent his nursing career bedding in nursing curriculum, courses and online clinical Master’s programs in the higher education sector (Australia, New Zealand and Singapore). He has registrations from Australian/New Zealand and the United Kingdom. One of Tony’s research foci has been to support RNs seek funding to improve clinical care and patient outcomes. He believes that researchers must work closely with clinicians to solve real clinical problems at the bedside.
He has published 120 research papers in ranked journals and presented 80 plus plenary and keynote international and national conference presentations.
