Adjunct Senior Lecturer

Sue is the Director of the Safer Care Unit (Quality, Risk, Consumer Participation & Feedback) at Peninsula Health, a major Victorian metropolitan health service. Sue is a Monash University adjunct Senior Lecturer at Monash University. Sue’s PhD focused on patient safety. Her experience includes working in senior nursing and midwifery roles, as an advisor in the Victorian Department of Health, as a CEO in the community sector, and an assessor with The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (2008-2013, 2019).

Sue’s clinical background is in perinatal care, having worked in and led maternity and neonatal services in Victoria. Sue’s expertise extends to clinical governance and system redesign, and in policy development. Sue is also passionate about developing capabilities in emerging leaders. Sue is leading research projects at Peninsula Health including reviewing the development of the clinical governance framework, the extent to which it has been embedded from ward to board, and its impact on achieving organisational goals; and volunteers in healthcare in the context of a pandemic. Sue has supervised and supported staff academic pursuits.
