Olivia’s Researcher Profile

Biography

Olivia is a registered nurse and academic with a long and proud association with Monash Nursing and Midwifery. She completed her Bachelor of Nursing here 20 years ago and after 15 years of nursing and management in the fields of women's health and oncology, Olivia returned to Monash University to complete her Honours degree and PhD and teach part time in the BN program. She was appointed as the first postdoctoral research fellow at Monash Nursing and Midwifery in August 2018 following the completion of her PhD which investigated the role of specialist nurses in the provision of gynaecological cancer care in Australia and New Zealand. In her current role, Olivia runs a program of research in the areas of oncology with a particular focus on the needs and care of people with cancer, working closely with cancer clinicians and health services.

Olivia regularly presents her research at scientific meetings including the International Gynaecological Cancer Society (IGCS) and the Cancer Nurses Society of Australia (CNSA) and has published several papers in leading nursing journals. She contributes broadly to her field in voluntary roles and was recently appointed to the Monash Partners Comprehensive Cancer Consortium Executive Committee. She is also Secretary of the CNSA Gynaecological Oncology Specialist Practice Network and sits on the CNSA Research Standing Committee. Olivia serves as a reviewer for top ranked journals including Collegian, the European Journal of Oncology and the Journal of Global Oncology
