Helen’s Researcher Profile

Biography

Helen is a senior lecturer and researcher at Monash Nursing and Midwifery. She is also a research fellow at the Australian Research Centre for Complementary and Integrative Medicine. Helen began her career as a nurse and then qualified as a naturopath and midwife. She has over 30 years experience in the field. In 2012 Helen completed a PhD exploring the role of complementary therapies in the maternity setting. Helen’s primary interest is women’s health including integrative medicine, pregnancy care for vulnerable populations and infant feeding practices.

Research interests

    Any area of women's health and/or integrative medicine. Current focus is on:
  • mindfulness and maternal mental wellbeing
  • nurses attitudes to complementary medicine
  • maternity care for women from a refugee background
  • infant feeding practices.
