Biography

Judy is a Registered Nurse with extensive clinical experience across the spectrum of critical care and expertise in operating room nursing. Broad experience in cultural safety and research examining the challenges for nurses working in critical care in a changing multicultural work space.

Recognised for community engagement in the establishment of culturally safe health care services for trash picker communities living in Jakarta, Indonesia, garbage dumps.

She has worked as Program coordinator for the Aboriginal Graduate and Cadetship Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Program, a Victorian Government strategy, which commits the health system to improve the length and quality of life of Aboriginal people in Victoria by 2022. As lead agency, developed cultural safety programs and instituted internal policy changes to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment strategies.

Judy's recent engagement with a local palliative care provider has provided the impetus for improvements in the delivery of care in line with legislated policy.
