Rosie’s Researcher Profile

Biography

Rosie joined Monash Nursing and Midwifery as a Lecturer in 2018 and is currently teaching into the third year clinical Units of study. She received her Bachelor of Science (Nursing) (Hons.) from Ulster University, Northern Ireland and has been in Australia since 1990. Further qualifications include a Graduate Certificate in Critical Care (Monash University) and Masters of Health Professional Education (Thesis) (Monash University).

Rosie has worked in both public and private health sectors in the United Kingdom and Australia. She has worked in both Intensive Care and High Dependency Units and spent many enjoyable years on the general medical and surgical wards at Peninsula Health.

Rosie’s recent years have been in nurse education, initially as a Clinical Facilitator then as one of two facilitators running the Monash at Peninsula (MAP) program; more recently she was employed as a Nurse Educator at Peninsula Health.

Rosie’s research interests lie with the novice nurse and their transition to practise. Her thesis explored the usefulness of mindfulness for newly registered graduate nurses; her findings were presented at the Australian and New Zealand Association for Health Professional Educators (ANZAHPE) Conference in Hobart in 2018.

Thesis title: The Usefulness of Mindfulness for Newly Registered Graduate Nurses: A Pilot Study.
