Virginia’s Researcher Profile

Biography

Virginia is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University. Her academic interests are in building research capacity and she has supervised multiple higher degree research students to successful completion. Virginia’s research interests include local and international approaches to acute care, disaster and emergency management and health service management. Her background in health services management is extensive with directorship in public and private sectors and board membership of several health care organisations before entering the tertiary sector. She was a Chief Investigator on an Australian Research Council Linkage Project grant entitled ‘Enhancing patient management at point of care using electronic-based clinical pathways’ which introduced bridging technologies to the digital EMR for nurses.

In 2013, Virginia was appointed the inaugural conjoint Associate Professor of Nursing and Midwifery Research Monash University and Peninsula Health, developing clinical and educational research opportunities in nursing, midwifery and related disciplines. She has expertise in mixed method research, systematic reviews and knowledge translation.
