Psychology graduate research Student Executive Committee (PsySEC)

PsySEC is your friendly Student Executive Committee. We are a bunch of PhD, DPsych Clinical and DPsych Neuro students who are dedicated to creating an inclusive and connected graduate student community. We facilitate a number of fun events throughout the year that are great for getting to know the other graduate students!

Make sure you keep an eye on your e-mail for news about our upcoming meetings and events

What do we do?

Mini bootcamps

Is there something on your to-do list that has been hanging around for a little bit too long? Us too! That’s why we get together on the first Saturday of every month to catch up on writing, data analysis and case studies (or anything else that you’ve been putting off but really shouldn’t).

These sessions are designed to help you be productive. We have booked the entire seminar room at 21 Sports Walk so that you can be around like-minded peers. We also supply food, snacks and discounted coffee so that you can sit down and focus.

Annual Doctoral Dinner

Each year, PsySEC organises a doctoral dinner for all graduate research students and staff. This event usually occurs in October, and is a great evening of drinks, food and “networking”. Keep your ears out for information about the next annual doctoral dinner.

Thesis Bootcamp

PsySEC runs major Thesis Bootcamps twice a year. This intensive writing weekend will help PhD and DPsych students get much needed 5,000, 10,000 or even 20,000 words completed on their thesis!

Meals, snacks and motivation will be provided along with a few fun activities scattered across the weekend to break up the all important writing blocks!

Research Symposium

For the first time this year, PsySEC will be hosting a research symposium. This one-day event will be held in November and is open to anyone who wants to practice presenting their data in any form! There will be prizes for the best presenters.

You decide!

We are always open to suggestions for new events that you would like to have. Please let us know if you would like to join the committee or share your ideas below.
