Health Professions Education and Clinical Simulation
Health care systems are increasingly complex with unprecedented advances in technology and in the nature of health care delivery to increasingly informed patients. Health professions education has the challenge of preparing our future health care professionals to practice and continually develop as proficient practitioners and educators of future health care professionals. To this end, we in the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health have developed a range of relevant and innovative programs designed to develop and sustain your skills as educators of current and future health care professionals. Our courses are designed for anyone working in the health professions as practitioners and/or educators. Through inter-professional faculty and scholars, our courses explore current trends in health professions education globally. We teach a range of directly applicable skills and techniques to enhance your educational practices. Our goal is to provide the theoretical foundations and practical skills required for contemporary best practice as educators in the health professions, across undergraduate and speciality training.
We have developed a highly innovative approach to certification in continuing education, where half of our award degrees are completed via approved short courses and half via award units. The goal is to enable busy health professionals to undertake short courses that are relevant to their practice and accredit these to one of our two Graduate Certificate Degrees.
Graduate Certificate Health Professions Education (M4009)
Health professions educators are usually also busy clinicians with many demands on their time. Our courses are flexible and tailored to the learning needs of professionals through an innovative process for completion of award degrees.
Graduate Certificate of Clinical Simulation (M4008)
The Graduate Certificate of Clinical Simulation enables individuals to apply principles and theories that inform educational practice in a range of clinical and other relevant contexts to undertake professional and highly skilled work and as a pathway for further learning.
