Ophthalmology projects

The Monash Health Ophthalmology Department is the second largest provider of ophthalmic care in Victoria with high surgical throughput.  The aim of the department is to provide improved access to medical and surgical care in a resource-efficient model with an emphasis on enhanced public private collaboration.

The department is interested in a number of health issues related particularly to excellence in care and service delivery, and new models of interdisciplinary care with particular emphasis on the patient outcomes of improved vision, regained independence and enhanced quality of life.

The department is involved in therapeutic trials in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration and is a part of a multidisciplinary research team in several other projects.
