Interview schedule 2021 selection period

For the 2021 selection period for the Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine (MD), we will be conducting interviews on the following days:

International Student Interviews

  • Friday 20th November 2020
  • Monday 23rd November 2020

Domestic Student Interviews

  • 15th, 16th & 17th December 2020
  • 6th & 7th January 2021
  • 20th & 21st January 2021

Important Changes for Interviews for this selection

We need you to meet the following criteria, in order to be able to assist with this process for this intake.

  • You will need to use your own laptop or PC and log onto the same MMI Software as in previous years (you will not be using an iPad).
  • Have had experience using Zoom, have this software on your device, and  be confident with sharing your screen
  • Be able to use (or quickly learn) Google Drive, which is the software used to share all the relevant documents required in lieu of having printouts
  • You need to have a stable internet connection.
  • Be situated in a private area with no disruptions

All interviewers will need to attend a short online training session in the week prior to the scheduled interviews, there will be several sessions available and mostly in the evenings.

Availability

As a returning interviewer, you can log in to the Interviewer Database and nominate the times that you are available to participate as an interviewer during the dates indicated.  All dates (November, December and January) are available for you to nominate your availability.

Session Times

November 2020

The AM session will be from about 8.45 am – 12.30 pm.

The PM session will be from about 1.15 pm – 4.30 pm.

December 2020 & January 2021

The AM session will be from about 8.15 am – 1 pm.

The PM session will be from about 12.45 pm – 5.00 pm.

The Interviewer Briefing and Standardisation Sessions will run for about 30 - 45 minutes and are held first thing in the morning of the day you are interviewing.  Even if you are attending an afternoon interview session, we would like all interviewers to be briefed at the same time. This time is included in the above session times.

Please ensure you are available for the complete session.

Training

As we are using an online process this year, all interviewers will need to attend an online training session in the week prior to your first interview day.  Details of this will be made available closer to the time, this is most likely be an early evening session which would go for around 30 to 45 minutes.

If you have not interviewed for several years it is recommended that you attend a training session to refresh yourself with the process and the online system.  Information regarding training is available via Information for new and future interviewers

Other important information

We very much appreciate the support of volunteers and realise that this task could not be undertaken without you. However, it is extremely important that once you have committed to a date and time and have had this confirmed, that you make note of this commitment and attend your scheduled day. Please do not nominate a date/time if you have any doubt that you may not be able to attend for any reason.

Interviewer Allocation Confirmation

We will be sending you an email confirmation of your scheduled days and times once we have finalised all interviewer allocations.

When you receive this, we ask that you revisit the interviewer database to confirm your scheduled dates and times. It is important that you do return to the interviewer database to acknowledge so we are ensured that you have noted and confirmed your scheduled dates and times.

SMS Communications

A further SMS reminder will be sent to interviewers 24-48 hours prior to their interview time. When you receive this SMS, please respond so we can be assured that you are aware of your required attendance at your scheduled date and time.  Please follow the instructions you receive to confirm your attendance. We undertake this process at a very busy time for the Admission's team and this is a quick and easy way to confirm attendance.

If at this point you realise you are not available for your scheduled time we request you advise us immediately by telephone  (9905 0609).

If you do not respond to the SMS reminder and we cannot contact you any other way, we will have to try and find a last-minute replacement interviewer for your time slot, which can be difficult.
