Biography

Andrew has been a Teaching Associate with DCEHPP since 2003 and is currently a Lecturer & Unit Coordinator in the postgraduate program. Andrew has an extensive experience base in Critical Care Practice having worked in both Intensive Care Nursing and Intensive Care Paramedicine. He is currently a senior Mobile Intensive Care (MICA) Paramedic with Ambulance Victoria and his role spans Operational Response, Education, Audit and Review/investigation and coaching/mentoring/developing the skill base of the organisation.

Andrew has been centrally involved in the evolution of Intensive Care practice within Ambulance Victoria over the last 15 years including the redevelopment of their Clinical Practice Guidelines and expansion of their drug facilitated intubation practice. More significantly, Andrew's major focus has been the training and development of both undergraduate and post graduate students and has extensive clinical and educational experience to draw on.

Andrew is interested in commencing research work with Monash University this year with the goal of progressing to PhD studies at some stage.

Prehospital critical care.

Research Interests

Clinical aspects of critical care practice including cardiac arrest management and advanced airways, paramedic education and mentoring, application of International guidelines to paramedic practice, clinical decision making paradigms.
