Dr Ian Chenoweth has had over thirty years of experience as a practising general practitioner in the inner suburbs of Middle Park and South Melbourne. During that time his clinical special interests have been in the area of sexual health (STIs and HIV) and in care of the elderly.

He has also had an interest in practice management, as a co-owner and director of a small group practice (Middle Park Clinic 1984-2005), and as a member of the RACGP National Practice Management and Services Committee (1997-2000).

His association with the Department began with undertaking the Diploma of Family Medicine (graduating with Master of Family Medicine in 1993).

Since 1994 he has had a part-time appointment with the department. This was initially supporting the Post-Graduate programs and since 2008 has been a Senior Lecturer in the Undergraduate program for Year 4 MBBS students.

Ian is also involved in postgraduate training as Unit Coordinator of Chronic Disease Management and Issues in General Practice Prescribing in the new Masters of Advanced Primary Health Care Practice.  Read more about Ian's contribution to the Masters here.
