Dr Maria de Leon-Santiago joined the Department of General Practice as a research administrator in May 2012. She works closely with Professor Danielle Mazza and assists in the management of new and ongoing research projects. Maria’s strengths lie in her written communication skills, having previously worked as an Associate Medical Writer for a medical communications company. She has published 13 peer-reviewed articles and has extensive experience in writing and editing manuscripts and communication materials for both academia and industry.
Maria also previously worked as a research fellow at the Department of Immunology at Monash University. Her research interests included investigating the molecular mechanisms of peanut allergy and the immunological mechanisms underlying sublingual immunotherapy for house dust mite allergy.
With a strong background in academic research and medical writing, Maria hopes to contribute to the research and publication success within the Department.
