Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
We are keen to recruit postgraduate research students from a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines. We value the contribution PhD students’ research plays in the life and culture of our department, and see it as a vital way in which research in the Department will develop.
Students may wish to complete a training year before conducting their own research, which may be via a specific MPhil qualification. Alternatively students may be able to join a research group and undertake their PhD through their involvement in a large research project.
Because we are committed to using a wide range of methodologies and multidisciplinary approaches, you may be jointly supervised with a member of another academic department, for example within the social sciences.
Please do not hesitate to contact the Department of General Practice with initial enquiries of interest. We would encourage anyone interested to contact us at an early stage, so that we can help refine your research area, assist with drafts of your proposal and provide information on possible sources of funding.
Admission is via a research proposal, curriculum vitae, academic references and usually an interview.
