Shapour works in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences at Monash University as a Senior Lecturer.

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Physiology, Neurophysiology/Neuroscience in the Bachelor of Physiotherapy across the first 3 years of the Physiotherapy course.
  • Electrophysical agents (Electrotherapy) in the Bachelor of Physiotherapy across the first 3 years of the Physiotherapy course.
  • Introduction to kinesiology and biomechanics in the Bachelor of Physiotherapy.
  • PhD and Honours supervision 

Research Interests:

Integration  of neuroscience, biomechanics and electrical stimulation to investigate  the neural control of human movement. My research interests  predominantly focus on the neural control of movement in neurologically  intact people and in individuals with movement disorders.

Current areas of interest include:

  • Neural Control of Human Movements
  • Neuroplasticity/Brain Cortical Reorganisation in response to therapeutic intervention  
  • Sensory/Motor skill acquisition
  • Motor training
  • Virtual Training (motor imagery, action observation and action listening)
  • Electrical stimulation, EMG triggered Electrical Stimulation, Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS)
  • Pain and neural control of human movements
