Professional Requirements

To be eligable for registration as a Radiographer in the state of Victoria applicants must hold a Statement of Accreditation from The Australian Institute of Radiography (AIR). The 4 year Bachelor of Radiography and Medical Imaging degree has been accredited by the Professional Accreditation Board of the AIR. Upon completion of the course and the 2,500 hours of clinical practice it comprises, graduates are eligable for a Statement of Accreditation and can apply for State registration.

Possession of the Statement of Accreditation enables graduates to work in NZ, the UK and Canada. A recent agreement between the Society of Radiologic Technologies in the US and the AIR allows graduates to apply to sit the National Registry exams and potentially work as radiographers in the US.
