The Monash Rehabilitation Ageing and Independent Living (RAIL) Research Centre funding scheme facilitates high-quality, collaborative research across our key research areas. We are excited to provide funding opportunities specifically for early to mid-career researchers with the new RAIL EMCR research grants.
RAIL EMCR Grant Guidelines
These research grants are designed to support early-mid career researchers by funding and piloting quality research projects on a competitive basis. Our scheme encourages cross-disciplinary research and provides experience in grant application and research mentoring.
The next funding round is planned for early 2020.

- Dr Vera Costa (Department of General Practice): Quality of life and mental wellbeing in family carers of people with dementia during the transition period to residential aged care.
- Dr Sze-Ee Soh (Department of Physiotherapy): Beyond the ‘old and frail’ – translating falls prevention evidence into osteoarthritis care
- Dr Em Bould (Department of Occupational Therapy): Fostering and suPAWting engagement in meaningful activity and social connection: Dogs as a conduit to community inclusion for people with cognitive disabilities
- Surya Girinatha Nurzaman (School of Engineering, Monash Malaysia): User Acceptance Analysis of an Affordable Soft Service Robot in Object Retrieval Tasks
