Zhaoen’s research and teaching has in recent years focused on international social work practice and education, women’s empowerment and gender policies in Australia and China. After completed her PhD study in the Department of Social Work at Monash University, Zhaoen has engaged as an associate lecturer taking charge in designing online pre-courses for master social work students. Engaged as an international student studying social work in Australia, Zhaoen has significantly constructed her research journey on exploring self-identity and building critical reflection under diverse sociocultural contexts. Well acknowledging diverse social work practices on an international scale, Zhaoen is currently engaging an exploratory research aiming at helping Monash international social work students improve the understanding of self in diverse sociocultural contexts to be ready as culturally-competent professional practitioners in the future.
