Dr John Oldroyd
BSc, MPH, PhD
John holds a Master in Public Health from the University of NSW, Sydney and a PhD in public health from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. While in the UK, John undertook a series of experimental studies including investigating the effectiveness of lifestyle interventions for the prevention of type 2 diabetes in individuals with impaired glucose tolerance.
Subsequently, John began postdoctoral studies in Manchester, supported by a North West NHS Research and Development Fellowship. During this time John developed an interest in the relationships between early life exposures and risk of cardiovascular disease in adulthood and undertook a number of perinatal epidemiological studies.
In 2005 he relocated to Australia to pursue studies in cardiovascular disease epidemiology. His career aspirations are to work in the area of life-course approaches to the prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
In 2015 John commenced in the role of Research Fellow on the Massive Transfusion Registry within the Transfusion Research Unit.
