The Society for Cost and Value in Health Professions Education (SCVHPE) is dedicated to the community of educators, researchers and administrators interested in the cost and value of health professional education. The cost and value of education impacts on the sustainability and effectiveness of our health workforce development, and is our contribution to addressing global health workforce shortages and improving the availability of quality healthcare services.

Our theme for 2017 is "Establishing Minimum Standards". As we look to advance investigation and scholarship into cost and value in health professions education, the need for foundational guiding documents has been identified. In 2017, the Society plans to develop these guiding documents.

This Society was constructed as a project outcome led by educational researchers Associate Professor Stephen Maloney (Monash University), Associate Professor Dragan Ilic (Monash University), and Dr Kieran Walsh (BMJ Group).

The Society for Cost and Value in Health Professions Education is an interest group that is operated through Monash University.

The Society was established in 2012, after receiving seed funding from the Higher Education Research and Development Society (HERDSA). HERDSA promotes the development of higher education policy, practice and the study of teaching and learning.

Funding for this project has been provided by the Australian Government Office for Learning and Teaching. The views expressed in this report do not necessarily reflect the views of the Australian Government Office for Learning and Teaching.

The primary aim of the Society is to facilitate discussions, knowledge sharing, and new collaborations in the field of cost and value for health professional education.
