Supervisors: Professor Danielle Mazza and Dr Chris Barton

Dr Pallavi Prathivadi is a newly Fellowed Academic GP who is currently undertaking her PhD full-time. Her mixed-methods research will inform the development of an intervention to improve primary care opioid prescribing. Dr Prathivadi commenced her PhD as an RACGP Academic Registrar in 2018, and has secured competitive funding and scholarships (including the 2018 RACGP Foundation Charles-Bridges-Webb Memorial Award and 2018 Shepherd Foundation grant).

Dr Prathivadi graduated from Monash University in 2012 with an MBBS and BMedSc (Hons), and also completed a Masters in Medicine (Pain Management) from the University of Sydney in 2015. She has a longstanding interest in national and international opioid policy, and reducing unsafe prescribing of opioids in Australia- especially in the management of chronic pain. Dr Prathivadi is also passionate about improving global access to opioids for palliative care and cancer and HIV/AIDS-related pain.

Dr Prathivadi is the Secretary of the Australian Medical Association Women-In-Medicine committee and is dedicated to improving diversity representation and women leadership in medicine. She continues to work clinically and practices part-time at Doctors@Knox.
