Towards optimal utilisation of technology and dietary interventions in Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus

Anthony Pease – anthony.pease@monash.edu

Anthony is an advanced physician trainee in the field of endocrinology, and is completing his final year of training in 2017 at Monash Health. His PhD examines the health economics of type 1 diabetes mellitus, with a particular focus on potential assessment strategies of clinical effectiveness as well as cost-effectiveness of novel technologies. A systematic review will be performed for existing national and international data, as well as assessing and deriving cost-effectiveness from existing Australian databases.

A statistical model will then be created considering clinical factors and cost-effectiveness in the context of the Australian healthcare system. Research is being performed under the supervision of Professor Sophia Zoungas, Professor Danny Liew, and Dr Andrea Curtis. Dr Pease completed his first two years of endocrinology training at Austin Health and Monash Health. He is currently a clinical research fellow to the Australian National Diabetes Audit (ANDA), and clinical fellow of the Endocrinology and Diabetes unit at Monash Health.
