New Postgraduate students commence studies at MCHRI
We are very excited to welcome our newest cohort of PhD students to MCHRI.
Ms Stephanie Pirotta (left) is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with a degree in Food Science and Nutrition (Hons) and a Masters in Dietetics. She is passionate about promoting healthy eating and exercise behaviours across all individuals for optimal health and well-being.
Dr Anthony Pease (middle) is an advanced physician trainee in the field of endocrinology, and is completing his final year of training in 2017 at Monash Health. His PhD examines the health economics of type 1 diabetes mellitus, with a particular focus on potential assessment strategies of clinical effectiveness as well as cost-effectiveness of novel technologies.
Dr Kirthi Menon (right) is a consultant endocrinologist and general physician based at Monash Health with outpatient clinical appointments in the Diabetes Service. The research project will focus on the potential of carnosine supplementation in reducing cardiometabolic risk in healthy overweight and obese individuals.
Dr Eleano Thong (absent), is an endocrinologist and her PhD will explore the interactions between Type 1 diabetes mellitus with bone and reproductive health. This is an emerging area in research, with recent studies highlighting an increase in fractures in individuals with diabetes mellitus.
