The Clinical Research Centre for Movement Disorders and Gait investigates neurological conditions with particular reference to basal ganglia and cerebellar disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and autism. The Centre continues to expand its fields of research with new studies in Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
The Academic Unit of Geriatric Medicine focuses on clinical research which can be rapidly introduced into clinical practise. The Unit has interests in the utilisation of best evidence, clinical ethics, health care of older people and medical education. It links Monash Health to Monash University in the teaching and training of future health care practitioners and actively promotes translational research.
The Aged Psychiatry Academic Unit’s research focuses on care and improvement of the mental health of the ageing, including those with dementia, behaviour disorders, or in aged care, as well as those who care for them.
