Teaching opportunities and professional development
Are you interested in teaching opportunities?
We are looking for passionate educators who are keen to be part of the SPHPM teaching team. A number of tutoring opportunities exist in courses coordinated by SPHPM in both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We support best practice by providing structured training sessions and professional development opportunities for teaching. This training is in keeping with the university Better Teaching, Better Learning Agenda (BTBL) facilitated by the Monash Education Academy (MEA).
Role and Remuneration
All teaching at Monash University is remunerated according to Schedule 2 – Teaching Associate Sessional Rates.

Are you new to tutoring?
Tutor training and practical tips on how to teach with confidence are provided prior to the semester of teaching through SPHPM Teaching Associate Coaching. The University also provides Continuing Education Excellence Development (CEED) modules.
We require a team of expert markers to assist with the School's teaching programs. Expert markers will be trained in using marking rubrics, ensuring consistency in grading standards, blind marking and Monash's assessment policies. We invite markers to list their subject areas and specify the number hours and availability during semester. Unit coordinators can request marking services and will be matched with appropriate candidates.
Coursework marking is particularly well suited to experienced tutors who are looking for additional work and who have limited availability to engage in face-to-face teaching.
Role and Remuneration
The number of papers to be marked per hour will be determined by Monash University policy and with the relevant unit coordinator in advance.
See Schedule 2 – Teaching Associate Sessional Rates.
A fantastic opportunity to share your experience and knowledge.
SUPERVISE A SUMMER VACATION SCHOLARSHIP STUDENT
Are you an SPHPM Researcher based at The Alfred or VIFM campuses wishing to supervise a Summer Vacation Scholarship Program student?
The SPHPM Summer Vacation Scholarship Program aims to provide students with practical experiences in applied clinical and public health research. Our aim is to give students insight into future opportunities in the area of research with an incentive to pursue higher studies and a career in research academia. This is a very competitive program and the successful students are chosen during an interview process and show a passion for public health.
The program commences in November and runs for four weeks. Successful students will undertake a research project or work with existing research undertaken by the unit under the supervision of a researcher. Students will attend public health related excursions organised by the program coordinators and are privy to attend the seminars and events hosted by the school.
