The Monash MBBS degree is currently in transition into a MD. A critical component to the successful transition into an MD is ensuring that each aspect of the current MBBS degree meets the Australia Qualifications Framework (AQF) level 9 criteria. Graduates at this AQF 9 level are required to have specialised knowledge and skills for research, and/or professional practice and/or further learning. The aim of this project is to develop a suite of psychometrically validated tools that assess MBBS student competency in research knowledge and skills (RKS).

Achieving learning outcomes at AQF level 9 is demonstrated by performance in assessment tasks. However, performance in any assessment task is only as robust as the tool that is measuring the performance. This project will develop and psychometrically validate the first instruments to assess student competency in research knowledge and skills.
