The regional training hubs in Victoria and Tasmania are currently building an online tool for students, junior doctors and health services to improve the process of searching for medical training posts in regional and rural areas. The aim is to “help relieve a lot of stress” for students and trainees planning their regional and rural training journeys.
The tool will also help health services to build pathways that attract trainees and retain them in rural areas longer. This will also feed into the development of state and Commonwealth health workforce policies.
An easy way to map a career pathway
Students and trainees will be able to visualise, map out and compare rural training opportunities and pathways. You'll be able to see what comprises each specialty training program, any variations or options you have, and what posts are available in rural areas to satisfy those requirements. You will have the options to export the information you have mapped out. You won't be able to apply for positions directly through the tool, but it will link you to other sites and resources.
