"A warm congratulations to all prizewinners for your hard work and success. It has now been five years since I attended this prize ceremony, where I received awards in surgery, ophthalmology and geriatrics. I am now finishing my PhD at the University of Oxford in ophthalmology and neuroscience, where I study treatments for genetic eye diseases which are administered with a specialised surgery beneath the retina. These awards are highly relevant to my career path focused on research, ophthalmology and surgery, and contributed to my success in obtaining a Rhodes Scholarship to fund my research. Best of luck with your future careers, these awards are a recognition of your talent and potential."

I am currently working my dream job in the cardiac care unit in Monash hospital, Clayton (which will go to the Monash Heart hospital) as a cardiac nurse and I am also privileged enough to be a member of an evidence based practice research group working to improve nursing practice in cardiology. I was able to secure these positions in my unit due to my strong academic excellence during my undergraduate studies and a strong desire to keep learning."
