Special consideration

In-semester and end-of-semester assessment

For the purposes of student equity special consideration applications for in-semester and end-of-semester assessments extensions need to be submitted within 2 working days of the assessment due date and include supporting documentation. Extensions should be no more than 5-7 working days.

Note: Deferred examination requests are submitted online and approved centrally. Chief Examiners are required to include 'DEF' in the end of semester CSV files. Refer to Deferred Exam Procedure for Centralised Exams (Staff Only)

Students registered with the Disability Support Services (DSS) are listed in the unit's Moodle site/Administrative Services/Reports/Alternative Arrangements for Assessment. Staff without Moodle access can run a report via MRS.

DSS registered students need to submit a special consideration form for in-semester assessment but are NOT required to include documentation. Reasonable extensions for DSS registered students would not normally exceed 5-7 working days.

Further extension should be discouraged. If requested, students need to demonstrate a further decline in their condition and submit  additional medical certificate/s clearly outlining the circumstances. Where students do apply for a further extension on a extension, the student should consider withdrawing from the unit and apply for Remission of Debt and/or Withdrawn Incomplete.

Where Extensions greater than 5-7 days is requested the Chief Examiner is suggested to seek advice from mnhs-student-admin@monash.edu outlining the circumstances.
