Since 2015, MIME's strategic funding is targeted to fostering new collaborative projects between clinician researchers in MIME partner hospitals, and researchers in the Faculties of Engineering and IT.
Two types of funding are available:
- MIME seed funding: $10-$50K for new collaborative medtech research projects that will deliver an outcome in 12-18 months
- MIME PhD scholarships: for co-supervised PhD projects
For both sources of funding, the process involves:
Phase 1: Call to clinicians in Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences to nominate areas of significant unmet clinical need that could be addressed by engineering and IT innovation
Phase 2: Invitation to researchers in Faculties of Engineering and IT, and other collaborating Faculties and institutions, to respond with a proposed R&D program that will deliver a technical solution that addresses the clinical need.
