Yes! International students on an International student visa are able to participate in the MITI program. The program is an industry sponsored scholarship and therefore host organisations dictate their desired preference of the students team location. Therefore, international students must be able to complete their MITI Placement full-time, face to face for the entire 10 to 12 week period if required. Students who are not able to fulfil this requirement may be deemed as ineligible.
Yes! We have had a number of students participate in the MITI program multiple times. However you must still meet our program eligibility requirements.
Your penultimate year is your second last year of study before you graduate from your course. For example for a three year degree, your 2nd year would be your penultimate year. Please note that you must have at least one semester remaining after the MITI program cycle concludes.
No. The MITI program only accepts applications from students who are currently undertaking their penultimate year of their University course. Yes. Students that are enrolled as a full-time Monash student completing a postgraduate qualification (coursework or research) at Masters or PhD level, are eligible to apply.
No. Students must still be enrolled in study units at Monash University during 2024 to be eligible for the MITI program due to Monash University insurance purposes.

Students may apply for up to three MITI projects if they choose to do so, however please ensure that you are able to communicate your specific interest and reason for applying for each project. If your skills do not align, please do not apply to multiple projects.
Please ensure you pay close attention to detail when submitting your application as you are unable to edit or update your application once it has been submitted.
If an error has been made with your application, you will need to email miti@monash.edu.
If you wish to withdraw your application completely you may select the 'withdraw' option displayed in your application portal. Students are not able to resubmit their application once they have withdrawn from a project. If you withdraw an application by mistake please email miti@monash.edu.
Students will be notified of their application outcome via email once the selection process has finished. Please be patient as the MITI Program receives a very high volume of applications each year, but please be assured you will receive an update via email for each stage of our recruitment process.
Each student application is assessed against a range of selection criteria including: relevant skills, academic performance, extracurricular activities, overall quality of cover letter, resume and responses our specific recruitment questions.
Our MITI Assessments centres will involve a group of 6 to 8 students participating in a fun and interactive activity. Students will be assessed on their skills in a team setting and will also have the chance to speak with the MITI team about the program and ask some questions. You do not need to prepare anything prior to attending, we just ask that you are on time and ready to have some fun!

Yes. Students receive a $9000 scholarship payment that is administered by Monash University. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be available to commit to a full time 10 to 12 week placement from late November to the end of February. Students are not able to undertake any study during this time. Students also need to ensure that any other paid work activities they perform are outside the hours of your MITI placement.
Our MITI Projects commence in the final week of November for a 10 to 12 week internship until the end of February. Students must be available to commit to the entire 10 to 12 week period.
This is up to the individual Faculty to decide whether or not they approve recognition of participation in the MITI Program for WIL. As there are no Academic assessment requirements, some Faculty's may not deem this participation acceptable for the Academic requirements of WIL. The MITI team do not have any authorisation to approve or process a student's WIL application will be more than happy to provide any required information to students or Faculty's upon request. Some Engineering students may be eligible to use their MITI experience towards their Continuous Professional Development (CPD) requirement of their course but will also need to seek approval from their Faculty.
