Project Aims:

Customers want less spam and more tailored insights from the companies they do business with, and banks are no different. How can NAB better understand their customer needs and improve their marketing through analysis of customer behaviour (available through bank financial transaction data, including between business customers (B2B), consumer customers (C2C) and business to/from consumer (B2C).

These occur across a number of payment channels, including (but not limited to) the following: Direct Debits, Direct Credits, BPay, Internet Banking transfers, EFTPOS, Credit cards payments, Periodical Payments, Cheques, Payroll etc)

Some examples of how companies can better understand their customers and target their marketing include:

  • Identify family networks and the key influencer(s) within
  • Identify potential referral sources for business and/or wealth products such as Accounting firms.
  • Identify customers who travel together domestically/internationally
  • Identify business decision makers
  • Identify business partners
  • Identify networks of customers with similar procurement/purchasing needs (ie. potential group buying networks)
