Description of the project:

The Monash Industry Team Initiative (MITI) Program facilitates placements between host organisations and Monash University students. MITI is looking to work in collaboration with the Exner Group to create preparatory resources in the form of Virtual Reality (VR). It is expected that these VR modules will encapsulate the required on-boarding and MITI duration resources which will allow MITI students to successfully prepare and complete a MITI placement.

The team will be required to review current orientation information provided to MITI students, with the aim to suggest and creating VR resources in the form of an innovative VR delivery.

Project Aims:

Working with leading innovative technologies, TESQA student placement preparation guidelines and MITI Alumni students is a key focus of this project. The aim is to not replicate resources that can otherwise be delivered through a powerpoint presentation, but to create interactive, informative and self-guided learning approaches. Some suggested VR content could include, but are not limited to: student presentations with interactive feedback, work place etiquette, leadership scenario’s and personal branding.

Applications for this project are welcome from penultimate and subsequent year undergraduates, Masters and PhD students (coursework and research) who are currently enrolled full-time at Monash including for the period December 2019 to end of February 2020.

Selection Criteria:

Your application will be reviewed by senior university members and assessed against the following criteria:

  • Quality of covering letter, resume and on-line application including spelling & grammar
  • Relevance of your degree to the project(s) you select
  • Skills, ability, knowledge and experience relevant to the project (s) you apply for
  • Extra - curricular activities (i.e. sports/clubs & societies/memberships)
  • Career goals & ambitions
  • Academic performance
  • Successful completion of group activity
  • Successful interview with industry partner

Please note:

  • Scope for MITI projects are determined by the industry partners, this includes student disciplines and whether they require students at undergraduate, Masters or PhD level.
  • The final selection of the MITI project team will be made by the industry partner.
