Based in the Parkville Precinct of Melbourne, the Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre is located in the heart of Australia’s word-class biotechnology and medical research precinct.

The Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre is an initiative between the Victorian State Government and Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS), based on a proven model of success between Monash University and GSK.

The Centre has a focus on growing exports of medicines manufactured in Victoria and supports pharmaceutical manufacturers and allied industries by facilitating the optimisation of processes, current and new product development and building supply of highly skilled, industry-ready, workforce candidates.

MMIC provides clients with access to world-class infrastructure and a multidisciplinary team to deliver economic impact and competitiveness to the state.

Our focus is on ensuring that Victorian manufacturers remain leaders in a global market through collaboration and the use of creative and disruptive innovation.

The MMIC offers access a flexible an agile team of experienced industrial scientists who are highly skilled in analytical chemistry, method development and validation, formulation, process optimisation, product development and industrialisation.

Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS) is Australia’s leading research centre for pharmaceutical science, as well as an educator for Australia’s next generation of leading scientists and engineers.

MIPS has a long history of successful support for the pharmaceutical industry and sits within the Monash University Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, which is ranked number one in the Asia-Pacific and number two in the world in the 2017 World University Rankings, alongside Harvard University, University of Cambridge and University of Oxford.


As rapid response and flexibility are vital to effective delivery, industry partners will join by signing a generic MMIC umbrella agreement. Intellectual property remains with the industry partner unless otherwise clearly pre-defined.
