Biography

Professor Fred Watson has been Astronomer-in-Charge of the Australian Astronomical Observatory since 1995 and holds adjunct positions at several universities in Australia. In addition to his academic career, Fred has helped to popularise astronomy and space science through broadcasts, talks and other outreach programs, winning the 2006 Australian Government Eureka Prize for Promoting Understanding of Science. He has also written a number of award-winning books including Stargazer and Why Is Uranus Upside Down?
