We have some exciting news to share. As most of you will be aware Monash Food Innovation Centre transitioned from Mondelez International to Monash University with the support of the Victorian Government in June 2016.

We have some exciting news to share. As most of you will be aware Monash Food Innovation Centre transitioned from Mondelez International to Monash University with the support of the Victorian Government in June 2016. Since then and with your support we have helped a large number of Food and Beverage businesses to innovate for growth. As we move forward in the next chapter, we are now fully embedded within Monash University and wanted to share the news below on the transition and re focus of Monash Food Innovation (yes a new name). We look forward to your continued support and co-creating with you new innovations with the global horsepower of Monash University to meet the challenges that impact the future of food.
Food innovation is a pillar of sustainable development and critical to the Australian and global economy. To transition Australia to a sustainable food and land use system and to continue to progress Australia’s food industry, Monash University is committed to co-creating and applying research, innovation and education excellence to respond to the global challenges within this field.
- 4,514 businesses engaged from manufacturing, consultancy, government, primary suppliers and retail, from start-up level through to large multinational organisations;
- 2,812 participants attended 25 events run with partners to learn about building innovation capability, research symposiums and export pathways into Asia;
- 76 food innovation projects undertaken on accelerating innovation pathways to market;353 businesses engaged with China / COFCO for an export pathway into China;
- 161 food focused start-up entrepreneurs nurtured and supported for scale-up;
- 36 industry translation research projects.
- Providing access to high quality food innovation services and support to explore and validate food related product or service offerings from concept stage to market execution with network partners.
- Working with industry and farmers to transform food waste into profit by researching the potential opportunity and market value of food by-products.
- Helping the dairy and food industry explore the next frontiers in the manufacturing of new products, efficient distribution and sustainable resource use via the Monash led Food and Dairy Graduate Research Interdisciplinary Program (GRIP).
- Supporting strategic science, technology and innovation collaboration of mutual benefit to Australia and China via the Australia-China Joint Research Centre in Future Dairy Manufacturing.
- Improving the sustainability of global food systems by applying research excellence in the field of AgTech, focusing on three key thematic areas of 1) Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Simulation 2) Robotics and Automation 3) Sustainability and Ecosystem Health (including human health through food).
- Developing future talent for the Food and Agricultural sector with the launch of the Master of Food and Agribusiness in 2020.
