Through Monash and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) we’ve been at the forefront of creating change in Australia, the Asia-Pacific region and further abroad – leading the conversation on how government, business and communities can embrace the Sustainable Development Goals in all kinds of ways.

In 2012, Monash was named the Australia/ Pacific Regional Network of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).

Now, hosted by Monash Sustainable Development Institute, and with members from across our region, we’re mobilising scientific and technical expertise from academia, civil society and the private sector to solve sustainable development challenges on a global level.

We worked with people from across our region to influence the development of the Sustainable Development Goals. Now we’re building Australia’s and the wider region’s capacity to implement them.

Our chair, Professor John Thwaites, is a Co-Chair of the UN SDSN, which provides expert advice on meeting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

And our researchers have been at the forefront of redefining the global framework for the way we think about sustainability and sustainable development.
