SDSN Australia, New Zeland & Pacific

Through Monash and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) we’ve been at the forefront of creating change in Australia, the Asia-Pacific region and further abroad – leading the conversation on how government, business, civil society and communities together with academia, can embrace the Sustainable Development Goals in all kinds of ways.

Monash University is the Australia, New Zealand & Pacific Regional Centre of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).

Hosted within Monash Sustainable Development Institute, SDSN AusNZPac brings together SDSN members in the region to develop and promote solutions, policies and public education for sustainable development.

MSDI and SDSN have worked with people from across our region to contribute to the development of the Sustainable Development Goals. Now we’re building Australia’s and the wider region’s capacity to implement them.  In 2017 MSDI and SDSN partnered on the Getting started with the SDGs in Universities and in 2018 we produced Transforming Australia: SDG Progress Report in partnership with the National Sustainable Development Council.

Our chair, Professor John Thwaites, is a Co-Chair of the UN SDSN, which provides expert advice on meeting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

And our researchers have been at the forefront of redefining the global framework for the way we think about sustainability and sustainable development.
