Victoria’s Young Water Professional of the Year 2019

MSDI's Dr Paul Satur named Victoria's Young Water Professional of the Year

Early career environmental and social science researcher, Dr Paul Satur, from the Monash Sustainable Development Institute's Centre for Water Sensitive Cities has been named the Young Water Professional of the Year at the Australian Water Association's (AWA) Victorian Water Awards.

Dr Satur was recognised for the "substantial contribution" he has made to the Australian water sector in a career spanning just ten years.

The award also acknowledged Dr Satur's "passion for developing the knowledge, tools and influence to foster a socially inclusive and vibrant sustainable water future for everyone."

What are the Victorian Water Awards?

The Victorian Water Awards promote outstanding work by individuals and organisations in the water industry and recognise the contribution of the AWA's members for their inspiring leadership and innovative research, programs and infrastructure projects, across six key categories.

Dr Satur, who is also co-founder of the Our Future Cities organisation, received his award during the AWA's Victorian Water Awards Luncheon held at ZINC at Federation Square on December 5.

Dr Paul Satur's research and work with MSDI

Dr Satur's focus at the Centre for Water Sensitive Cities is to provide the research, training and influence necessary to support the ongoing transitions of urban and semi-urban communities to sustainable, liveable, productive and resilient water sensitive futures.

Monash University was also a finalist in the 'Research Innovation' category for the 'Safe Supply of Rainwater for Residential Hot Water' -  a collaborative project with South East Water.

Australian Water Awards

Dr Satur, along with other Victorian Water Award winners, will go on to represent the state in the national Australian Water Awards, which will be presented at the AWA's annual water conference and exhibition, Ozwater'20 in Adelaide on May 5-7, 2020.
