Frequently Asked Questions

This information relates to the Net zero strategy for your building portfolio course.

1. Are there prerequisites?

There are no prerequisites to doing this course.

2. What are my payment options?

Payment options are via PayPal or Credit Card.

If your company/employer is paying the course fee for you, they may pay the full course amount upfront. Please contact msdi.pace@monash.edu to request a tax invoice.

Requesting an invoice

We can help you arrange an invoice for your employer. You will need to email the following details to msdi.pace@monash.edu :

Your Full Name:
Your contact number:
Company details (name + address + ABN number):
Contact person in the company (plus their email):
Version of the course you would like to take (Accredited or Non-accredited):

Once you send these details through, we will generate an online invoice through Monash University's processing system, which may take up to 5 business days.

3. Are there any face-to-face lectures or is physical attendance required?

No, the course is delivered fully online, and can be completed from anywhere, as long as you have reliable access to the online learning content.

There are opportunities for networking throughout the course. There will also be two live, facilitated workshops with your peers and a subject expert during the course.

4. What is meant by "fully online"?

"Fully online" means that all of the course content is delivered digitally, through MSDI's online learning platform. You can complete the course entirely remotely, and within a flexible time frame. There are no contact hours, just at your own pace.

Will the webinar sessions will be recorded and uploaded?

The webinar sessions will be recorded and made available to those who can't attend.

5. Will I get a certificate by completing this course?

Yes. However, in order to get an attendance certificate, you will have to complete the course requirements such as responding to questions and quizzes. This will be outlined in the introduction to the course so you know what to expect.

Is the course accredited?

No, the insights are designed to be directly useful for you in your operating context. You will receive an attendance certificate upon completing the course requirements.

6. Is there any assessment?

This short course has no assessment requirements, but does involve a number of interactive elements where you will be asked to apply what you’ve learned.

7. Do I need to complete all the modules?

As the course is self-paced, you can go as deep or as shallow as you like on each module, depending on your experience. There are optional additional readings and resources in modules where you might need to learn more, or you can speed through the modules where you feel you already have the knowledge – and you will then be able to contextualise this and apply it to your business case.

8. Do I have to be based in Australia?

This is an online course, so you can access it from anywhere. However, the course mainly uses case studies and examples from the Australian market.

9. Is there a discount for multiple registrations – a few of us registering at once?

No, there are no discounts for multiple registrations.

10. What are the system requirements to participate in the course effectively?

To run MSDI’s Moodle learning platform effectively you should, as a minimum, use the system components listed on this page. If you do not, Moodle may still work but some functionality may be lost.

Operating systems
Windows 7, 10, Mac OS X or newer, iPad iOS 10 or newer.

Devices
Use a desktop, laptop or iPad for the best learning experience. Use headphones for the best experience for videos and interactive activities.

Internet browsers
An up-to-date modern web browser such as Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. MS Internet Explorer is not recommended.

Internet speed
Use a broadband connection (1 Megabits per second or faster) will ensure the best learning experience. Dial-up access will be significantly slower, and we do not recommend it for using Moodle.

Settings
We recommend that the following be enabled:

  • Cookies
  • Pop-ups (in both Internet browser and security software)
  • Javascript

Backup and security

  • A back-up plan in place in case your computer fails at any point during the course (utilise an external storage device or cloud-based storage such as Google Drive or Dropbox to back up work and have access to an alternative computer/internet connection).
  • With all firewalls, ensure that you enable uploading of files.
