Support our research

The Monash University Accident Research Foundation was established to support, encourage and promote work aimed at preventing accidents and reducing injuries on the road, in the home, in sport and recreation and at work.

Why support the Monash University Accident Research Foundation?

It is an investment in the Australian community

Each year, significant numbers of Australians are killed or admitted to hospital as a result of injuries received on the road, at home, at work, at school, in sport, recreation or various other activities. The annual cost to the community is estimated at over $10 billion, not to mention the immeasurable personal cost when someone we love is killed or injured.

Yet many of these injuries are preventable. By applying a scientific approach to the development of practical prevention programs, we can make a difference.

Victorian Road Safety is just one example of research at work. In 1989, there were 776 people killed on Victorian roads. Today, through Government action based on MUARC  research, Victorian roads are amongst the safest in the world, with less than 400 deaths per year.

This is just one example of MUARC's significant contribution to the reduction of deaths and injuries, through the application of its research findings. But people are still being killed and injured across our communities so we must remain vigilant with our research and public education.

The Monash University Accident Research Foundation was established to support the valuable research at the Centre in partnership with others to reduce injuries. The Foundation relies upon and acknowledges the funding for research provided by the private and public sectors, as well as from individuals and trusts.

With your help we can prevent injury and save lives

Current MUARC research projects cover a diverse range of human activity and are of significant value to the community in terms of cost savings and quality of life. Further research can only proceed with external support. To this end, Monash University Accident Research Foundation has established a range of donation categories for private and public sector donors as well as individuals with resources available for public benefits and beneficiaries of trusts.

For example: donations over $60,000 p.a. will fund a major research project(*) with naming rights, participation in the public launch and all other events, including acknowledgement in project reports and other publications.

Donations of $10,000 or more will contribute to smaller research projects or courses and will be acknowledged in all publications and any associated public events. Framed Certificates of recognition will be presented in each instance.

Donations exceeding $2 to the Monash University Accident Research Foundation are tax deductible and will be used exclusively to support injury prevention research. They will also be acknowledged in the list of donors, published in the Foundation's Annual Report.

*Some funding may attract GST.

We thank you for your support.
