This series of three unique lenticular prints depict artist Maree Clarke’s birthplace, at the Balranald Mission on Mutti Mutti country, on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River in southern New South Wales. During the 1960s, Clarke and members of her family lived here in tents alongside corrugated-iron lean-tos, and Clarke’s earliest years were spent sleeping in an old suitcase. While these provisional structures are pictured in her prints, it is the strong sense of place – expressed through connection to country, family and histories – that is primarily captured and distilled in her works.
