Join us for a talk from Frances Barrett, on behalf of artist-led collective Barbara Cleveland.

Barbara Cleveland is an artist-led collective directed by Frances Barrett, Kate Blackmore, Kelly Doley and Diana Baker Smith. The collective met while studying at UNSW Art & Design in Sydney and have been working together since 2007. Barbara Cleveland’s projects are shaped by queer and feminist methodologies, as well as drawing on the histories of visual arts – with a particular emphasis on performance and its relationship to documentation and memory. Recent exhibitions include: Bodies in Time, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney (2016); 20th Biennale of Sydney: The future is already here – it's just not evenly distributed, Sydney (2016); Trace: Performance and its Documents, Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane (2015); and Performance Art, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney (2014). Barbara Cleveland will be presenting new work in Monash University Museum of Art's upcoming exhibition, The humours.

Frances Barrett is one of the Co-Directors of Barbara Cleveland. She is an artist and curator who is currently undertaking MADA's Curatorial Practice PhD.
