Monash Prato: A Site for the Exchange of Art and Ideas

Dates:
1 March – 26 April 2022

Location:
The Chancellery
Monash University Clayton Campus
27 Chancellors Walk, Clayton

For over a decade, Monash University has welcomed creative practitioners to its Prato Centre in Tuscany, Italy, through a unique residency program. A collaboration between Monash Prato and Monash Art, Design and Architecture (MADA), each year a creative practitioner is selected via public call out to spend three months generating new ideas and undertaking research in Prato.

The selected resident has the opportunity to access significant collections, exhibitions, colleagues and practitioners in the region while also engaging with MADA staff and students during the September–November semester program. Throughout the program, residents are able to connect with the local community and share their work through exhibitions, performances and public programs.

Since 2010, the residency in Prato has proudly supported eleven creative practitioners at varying stages of their careers: Damiano Bertoli, Cai Kequn, Jon Campbell, Maree Clarke, Jo-Anne Duggan, Pat Foster and Jen Berean, Laresa Kosloff, Stuart Ringholt, David Rosetzky, and Charlie Sofo.

After a two-year hiatus, Hayley Millar Baker will take up the residency in 2022.
