The new external building skin and entry into Monash Building 17, the University’s Biology department, is an exciting collaboration between Kosloff Architecture and artist and Head of Art at Monash, Professor Callum Morton and architect Andre Bonnice as part of Monash Art Projects (MAP).
Riffing off the idea of the modernist curtain wall, MAP took Kosloff Architecture’s ingenious new GRC skin for the B17 building and lifted it in various spots across the façade to reveal the bright glazed bricks beneath. The halo-like entry was inspired by the ubiquitous science lab beaker, tipped on its side and appearing to spill out into the surrounding landscape designed by Rush Wright Landscape Architecture.
